シンガポール人デザイナー、アルヴィン・ホー（Alvin Ho）とクララ・コウ（Clara Koh）によって2002年に設立されたリサーチスタジオ、Atelier HOKO（アトリエ ホコ）による雑誌『Science of the Secondary（取るに足らない科学）』の第16巻。テーマは「本（BOOK）」

「最近、本を読む際のフォーマットについて多くの混乱や議論が起きている。我々が本当に欲しいのは、ちょうどいい大きさで、めくりやすいシンプルな本なのに、必要のない機能や特徴が詰め込まれ、ぎこちないものになっている。にもかかわらず、多くの人は物理的な本から電子ディバイスへとシームレスに移行し、一見何の影響も受けていないように見える。この2つのメディアの間には、控えめで、節度ある範囲内の、微妙な、しかし認識する手段を知らなければならない、違いがあるにもかかわらず、である。しかし、我々はすでにそれを疑わないことを学んでしまったようだ...」

本書は、作者が構想し発展させ続けている進行中のリサーチシリーズである。

Despite this, many people seamlessly transition from physical books to electronic devices and are seemingly unaffected even though between the two mediums lies differences that are discreet, restrained and subtle that one must know how to perceive. But it seems we have already learned not to question it…”
