日本人写真家、原田直宏の作品集。

作者は、「見立絵」という、遊びに満ちた暗示と再解釈の伝統を手がかりに、日本の視覚文化をめぐるこれまでの探究を発展させながら、延期された「東京2020オリンピック」が生み出した宙づりの現実を再訪する。

本書は、スウェーデン・ストックホルムを拠点とする出版社「LIBRARYMAN」より2022年に刊行された「TOKYO FISHGRAPHS | 2020」に連なる一冊である。同書の制作過程で残された断片や未採用の写真、見過ごされていた瞬間を収録し、それらを新たな文脈のもとに再構成することで、先行作を静かに受け継ぐ、より内省的な作品群として結実している。

歌川広重による10点の浮世絵との対話を通して、作者は過去と現在、不在と表象の関係をさらに辿っていく。そこには、かつて人影を失い、目に見えない観客を待っていた都市の静けさが響いている。

Naohiro Harada (b. 1982, Japanese) revisits the suspended reality of the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics, extending his earlier exploration of Japanese visual culture through the lens of mitate-e—a tradition of playful allusion and reinterpretation.

This publication brings together images once set aside: fragments, rejections, and overlooked moments from the original series, now forming a more reflective continuation.

In dialogue with ten ukiyo-e prints by Utagawa Hiroshige, Harada further traces the relationship between past and present, absence and representation, echoing the stillness of a city once emptied and the unseen audience it once awaited.
