アメリカ人アーティスト、マレン・ハッシンガー（Maren Hassinger）の作品集。2026年6月から11月にかけてカリフォルニア州の「バークレー美術館 / パシフィックフィルムアーカイブ（Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive / BAMPFA）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。
本書は身体と環境との関係をめぐる、作者による50年にわたる学際的な探究を紹介する一冊である。
ロサンゼルス生まれ、ニューヨークを拠点に活動する作者は、1970年代の前衛芸術家集団「スタジオZ（Studio Z）」のメンバーであったセンガ・ネングディ（Senga Nengudi）、デヴィッド・ハモンズ（David Hammons）、ユリシーズ・ジェンキンス（Ulysses Jenkins）らと並行し、また共通する主題のもとでその実践を展開してきた。
彫刻、パフォーマンス、インスタレーション、映像といった表現を通じて、作者は工業素材や自然素材、日用品を用い、人間と環境との関係に関わる社会的・文化的な問題に取り組んでいる。本書は、作者による先駆的な実践に関する研究をさらに発展させるものであり、新たに執筆された論考、ラウンドテーブル形式の対談、そして作者へのインタビューを収録。未公開作品の記録を含む充実したアーカイブ写真によるフォトエッセイ、年譜、包括的な展覧会歴を収録した本書は、作者の人生とキャリアをこれまでにないかたちで概観する一冊である。

Los Angeles–born, New York–based artist Maren Hassinger’s (born 1947) practice emerged alongside and thematically with that of the other members of the 1970s avant-garde art collective Studio Z, including Senga Nengudi, David Hammons and Ulysses Jenkins. Across sculpture, performance, installation and video, Hassinger employs industrial, natural and everyday materials to address social and cultural issues dealing with our relationship to the environment. This book expands scholarship on Hassinger’s groundbreaking practice, featuring newly commissioned essays, a roundtable conversation and an interview with the artist.
