ミラノに生まれ、現在はヴェネツィアとミラノを拠点に活動する作者の写真は、人間と環境との関係を丁寧に掘り下げることを軸としている。その関係は、自然や風景、テクノロジー、そして住居や都市空間との関わりのなかに映し出される。本シリーズの写真は10年にわたり、イタリアのほか、ヨーロッパ諸国やアメリカで撮影された。

スティーヴィー・ワンダー（Stevie Wonder）のヒット曲「心の愛（原題：I Just Called to Say I Love You）」（1984年）へのオマージュとして、イタリア語に訳して名付けられた本書『Ho chiamato solo per dirti che ti amo』には、『Mousse』の編集長を以前務め、キュレーター、ライターであるジョヴァンナ・マンゾッティ（Giovanna Manzotti）によるエッセイと、キュレーター、研究者であるサウル・マルカデント（Saul Marcadent）が聞き手を務めた作者との対話が収録されている。

Riccardo Banfi’s (b. Milan; lives and works in Venice and Milan) photography revolves around a probing examination of humans’ relationships with their environment, as reflected in their interactions with nature, landscape, technology, and residential and urban spaces. The photographs in the series were taken over the course of ten years, in Italy as well as other European countries and America.

The book Ho chiamato solo per dirti che ti amo (the title pays homage to the Stevie Wonder hit I Just Called to Say I Love You) contains an essay by Giovanna Manzotti as well as a conversation with the photographer by Saul Marcadent.
