作者は、街中や郊外を歩くなかで出会う身近な植物の世界へと読者を誘う。本書は、現代的で遊び心のある植物標本集であると同時に、小さな子どもたちにグラフィックアートの楽しさを伝える入門書としても構成されている。また、自分だけの庭を作って楽しめる32種類の切り抜き図版を収録する。
