本書は、作者が過去7年間に撮影した写真をまとめたものである。本作は多様なイメージで構成されている。水槽や檻のなかで捉えられた魚やその他の生き物、俳優やパフォーマー、アーティストのポートレイトとその裸体の断片、そして人影のない室内空間……。いずれのイメージも、戦後アメリカの文化的風景や言説、とりわけハリウッドのそれに向き合っている。ハリウッドとは、フィクションへの欲望が現実そのもののなかに姿をあらわす場所である。

Head brings together photographs taken by Danielle Neu over the past seven years. This body of work includes a diverse range of images: fish and other life forms captured in aquariums and cages; portraits of actors, performers, and artists, as well as fragments of their naked bodies; deserted interior spaces. . . . Each image engages with postwar American cultural landscapes and discourses, particularly those of Hollywood, where the desire for fiction manifests within reality itself.*
