1983年から1998年にかけて、作者はパリでコンセプチュアル・アートやミニマル・アートを擁護したアートエージェント、ギスラン・モレ＝ヴィエヴィル（Ghislain Mollet-Viéville）と親密な関係を築いた。パリのアートシーンを象徴する場所となった、ボーブール通りのギャラリー兼住居では、長年にわたり、自由な精神のもとで一連のポートレートが撮影された。

ドナルド・ジャッド（Donald Judd）、ジョセフ・コスース（Joseph Kosuth）、ソル・ルウィット（Sol LeWitt）、ローレンス・ウェイナー（Lawrence Weiner）の作品に囲まれて撮影されたモレ＝ヴィエヴィルは、エレガントで、リラックスした、輝かしい姿を見せている。45点の写真を収録した本書は、15年間にわたる友情と創作の軌跡をたどるとともに、居住空間を現代美術に捧げられた場所へと変えた人物の親密な肖像を描き出す。

2016年、「ジュネーヴ近現代美術館（Musée d’art moderne et contemporain / MAMCO Genève）」は「L’Appartement」を収蔵し、館内にその住居空間を再現した。

Between 1983 and 1998, the photographer developed a close relationship with Ghislain Mollet-Viéville, an art agent who championed conceptual and minimal art in Paris. In his gallery-apartment on rue Beaubourg, which became an emblematic place of the Paris art scene, a series of portraits was created over the years in a spirit of great freedom.

Photographed among works by Donald Judd, Joseph Kosuth, Sol LeWitt and Lawrence Weiner, Ghislain Mollet-Viéville appears elegant, relaxed and radiant.

Bringing together 45 photographs, this book retraces fifteen years of friendship and creation, while offering an intimate portrait of a man who transformed his living space into a place entirely devoted to contemporary art.

In 2016, MAMCO acquired and reproduced L’Appartement.
