手にまつわるよく知られた表現を軸に、デザインを通して言葉とオブジェ、言語と形態の関係を探究する作品集。2026年6月から2027年3月にかけてフランス・サン＝テティエンヌの「国立デザインギャラリー（Galerie Nationale du Design）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。

本書は、手にまつわる6つのよく知られた表現を軸に構成されている。それらの表現は、デザインの領域に置かれることで、言語と形態のあいだにある親密な関係を浮かび上がらせる。日常的な使用に関わるものであれ、象徴的な創作物であれ、言葉とオブジェは互いに語り合う。

国際的な執筆者による論考に加え、デザイナーたちのコメント、解説、豊富な図像によって構成された本書は、収められた資料とともに、まず手に取って味わいたい一冊である。

The exhibition “Design en main. Du langage à l’objet” [Design in Hand. From Language to Object] is built around six popular expressions related to the hand. Placed within the field of design, these expressions reveal an intimate relationship between language and form. Words and objects converse, whether they pertain to everyday use or iconic creations.
Enhanced by essays from international authors, punctuated by comments from designers, explanatory notes, and rich iconography, this book, along with the materials it contains, can be held in hand before being shared.
