今日の私たちの生活を阻む、破局的な出来事、エントロピー、境界といった、時代を超えて存在する変化の問題を、作者独自の言語とグラフィック・スタイルを通して捉える。フィリップ・ヒューバート（Philipp Hubert）がデザインを手がけた本書には、作者の約50年にわたる実践から、言語を用いた彫刻作品20点以上を収録。1969年に制作されながらも未刊行のままであった『Terminal Boundaries』に基づく作品も含まれる。さらに、ポール・チャン（Paul Chan）による論考「SPEAK, WALL: On Lawrence Weiner」を収録。
Celebrated for his language-based, sculptural practice, Lawrence Weiner’s inaugural exhibition at Gladstone, AS OFTEN AS NOT, addresses timeless issues of change: cataclysmic events, entropy, and borders that impede our lives today, which are read via his own language and graphic style. Designed by Philipp Hubert, this illustrated catalogue features over 20 language-based, sculptural works spanning five decades of Weiner’s practice, including works from Weiner’s 1969 unpublished manuscript, Terminal Boundaries. The publication also contains an essay “SPEAK, WALL: On Lawrence Weiner” by Paul Chan.
