ドイツ人アーティスト、トーマス・アーノルズ（Thomas Arnolds）と、イミ・クネーベル（Imi Knoebel）による作品集。本書は2022年9月から11月にかけて「フリードリヒ財団（Friedrichs Foundation）」で開催された展覧会に伴い刊行された。

この展覧会は、2人のアナーキーな美術家が持つ個性の出会いを目撃できるものであった。クネーベルは、純粋かつ断固とした抽象主義と社会生活の世界という、言い表しようのないほど限定的な「分裂」を用いてきた。アーノルズは、視覚的な緻密さと幾何学的な要素の狭間で、絵画における基本的な事実、すなわち基礎的かつ分析的な面積、色、形を我々に向かい合わせる。この二つの領域は共にあり、我々はそのちょうど間に立たされている。

高さ、幅、奥行き、静的、動的、グリッド、ジェスチャー、イメージング。クネーベルが部屋の中で拡張的に現れてくるのに対し、アーノルズは色彩の実体を探っている。生の証としての、芸術的な行為である。

The exhibition in the Friedrichs Foundation is an extraordinary encounter of two anarchical artist personalities: for over 50 years, Imi Knoebel has succeeded in leveraging the unspeakably limited split of puristic abstraction and social life world. Both spheres belong together and we are in the middle.

Between optical meticulousness and geometric abberwitce, Thomas Arnolds confronts us with the basic facts of painting, elementary and analytical: area, colour, shape. Height, Width, Depth, Static, Dynamics, Grid, Gesture, Imaging... Where Knoebel emerges expansively into the room, Arnolds looks at the coloured substance. Artistic action as a sign of life.
