ケルンを拠点に活動するドイツ人アーティスト、ミカイル・ピルゲリス（Michail Pirgelis）の作品集。本書は、作者が過去20年間に渡り制作してきた、剥き出しにされた飛行機の床とカーペットを用いた彫刻作品を収録した一冊。ドイツのコンセプチュアルアーティスト、ローズマリー・トロッケル（Rosemarie Trockel）の下で学んだ作者は、ポスト・ミニマリズムやレディメイド、コンセプチュアル・アートの伝統を更新すると同時に、それらに抵抗している。作者の制作のプロセスは大抵カリフォルニアとアリゾナにある航空機の墓場から拾った素材から始まり、そこでは、退役した飛行機が解体やリサイクルを待つ。オブジェに対する我々の理解の限界を探る一方で、作者は彫刻的なものの経験を根本的に拡張する。

The artist's book "Emotional Tourist" documents the group of sculptures that Michail Pirgelis has created from segments of exposed airplane floors and carpets over the course of the last twenty years. The focus is on the works in their texture and materiality, with page-filling details that emphasize exposed elements and layers, making the artistic process of abstraction apparent. Thus, the flow of images is repeatedly interrupted and the direction of reading changes. Similar to a sketchbook, images of material cutouts are accumulated like sample pieces, revealing patterned carpet sections, geometric lines or grids, sprayed codes and markings, as well as traces of original functionality. The artist's book concludes with a note on the body of works and a selection of exhibition views.
