スウェーデン人作家であり評論家、キュレーターであるトーマス・ミロス（Thomas Millroth）が編集を手がけた、約450人のブックアーティストを紹介する一冊。主にスウェーデン、かつ国際的に活躍する作家に光を当てつつ、デンマークやドイツの作家も多数取り上げる。国籍や芸術性を超越するジャンルであるアーティストブックにおいて、スウェーデンの実状を本質的に知るためには近隣の国の作者と共に取り上げるほかないだろう。

本書はまさに、初めてスウェーデンという視点からアーティストブックを概観した一冊である。様々な視点からアーティストブックを鑑賞して理解すべく、各章はエッセイによって構成される。「 The Social Room」「The Body」「Berlin」「The Workshop」「The Library」「Archive」などのテーマで分類され、各章にはそれぞれの物語がある。

本書は「写本（codex）」についての物語であり、昔の印刷所の体験をコンテンポラリーアートの世界に取り込んでいる。

This book presents around 450 different book artists. Mainly from Sweden, many though internationally active, but also quite a few from Denmark and Germany.

The only way to really see the Swedish scene must include neighbouring artists, because artists’ books is a genre that know no limits – whether national or artistical.

This is indeed the first survey of artists’ books from a Swedish point of view. Each chapter is an essay, a way to see and understand artists’ books from different views – like The Social Room, The Body, Berlin, The Workshop, The Library and Archive, etc.
