1960年代、70年代、80年代に開催された、フルクサス、ミニマリズム、コンセプチュアリズム、ランドアート、ポップアートなどの展覧会開催に伴い制作された、インビテーション（招待状）をまとめた作品集。編集者であるブルーノ・トニーニが手がけている。この年代の美術界において、このような印刷物の存在はあまり注目を集めていなかった。カードであれ、小さな印刷物であれ、素材を選ぶ基準は、そのものがつくられるまでのクリエイティブな過程にアーティスト自身が関わってくるという「特権」であった。

本書には、さまざまな仕様のインビテーションやカードが500ページ以上、約900点収録。掲載作家はヨーゼフ・ボイス、ソル・ルイット、エド・ルシェ、ローレンス・ウィナー、ドナルド・ジャッド、カール・アンドレ、クリスチャン・ボルタンスキー、ギルバート・アンド・ジョージなどが名を並べる。

その高い資料性を通じ、それぞれの芸術的文脈がそれぞれの土地で持っていた歴史的かつ政治的価値を検証しており、あわせてスペインと南米の美術に対する批評的関心にも触れている一冊。

A lesser-known aspect of art from the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s is the material printed for the specific purpose of documenting an exhibition. Be it a card or a piece of paper, the criterion employed to choose this material was that of privileging the participation of the artists themselves in the creative process that led to the object’s production. Through a wealth of archival material, this book covers a wide range of artistic contexts, including Fluxus, minimalism, conceptualism, land art, and pop art, in its investigation of the historical and political significance these movements had in their respective locations, and also encompasses new critical attention for Spanish and South American art.
