イギリス人彫刻家、アントニー・ゴームリー（Antony Gormley）の作品集。石からブロック、平板まで、本書は作者が現在も継続的に取り組む岩との対話と、その実践において岩が持つ可変的な役割を探る一冊である。これまで未公開であったリサーチ画像、ワークブック、様々な場所や文脈に基づいて撮影された作品の写真など、作者のアーカイブから抜粋した資料が広範にわたり収録されている。石を用いた初期の実験的な試みから、コンクリート、花崗岩、粘土を使った近年の彫刻作品まで幅広い実践を見ることができ、身体と建築環境との関係を追究し続けていることが見て取れる。

本書は、進化し続け、創作における新たな方法を示し続ける「連続性を持つ一つの研究」として、我々が生きる地球という惑星を形成する物質と作者との関わりを見せるものである。

From stones to blocks to slabs, the artist’s book Formation explores Antony Gormley’s ongoing dialogue with rock and its mutable role in his practice. The book features materials from the artist’s archive, including unseen research images and an extensive collection of workbooks and photographs of Gormley’s work in various sites and contexts. These range from his early experiments with stones to his more recent sculptures in concrete, granite and clay, which explore the relationship between the body and the built environment.

A special edition of 250 copies is published alongside the standard edition and includes a numbered giclée print.
