スイスを拠点に活動するデザイナー、建築家であるナターシャ・クリムスカヤ（Natasha Krymskaya）の作品集。物質文化（マテリアルカルチャー）、テクノロジー、空間リサーチに焦点を当てた共同プロジェクトを行う作者が設立した「キャンプ（CAMP）」の活動を紹介する一冊。

本書は、歴史的に肉体労働と結びついてきた地域に根ざした、柔軟で発想力豊かな職人技が長年培った「ジョイント（継ぎ手 / 接合部）」という伝統の存在を我々に見せてくれる。ジョイントは、ヨーロッパ内の多くのものを形作ってきた「手」を象徴している。文脈を重要視する考え方をもってしなやかに解決する力と、ジョイントそのものと労働者いずれのアイデンティティや経験論をも反映しうる本能的な問題解決におけるアプローチを体現している。視覚的にも特徴的なジョイントは、東欧における文化の力強い碑のようなものであり、日常で必要にかられたことから生まれた独創的な解決策でもある。一種の職人技とも言えるユニークな形状は、場にあわせて自然に発生したものであり、しばしば一時的な解決策として成されたことを特徴とするが、時が経つにつれて「恒久的な備品」へとその役割を変えていくのである。そして、粗くも簡潔であり構造的に優れたクリエイティビティを備えつつ、美しさと機能性の両面において建築家やエンジニアにインスピレーションを与える存在でもある。
